IS YOUR SCHOOL LEVERAGING ITS DATA?

Our research indicates that schools are not using the significant data they routinely collect. Unlock analyzes each student’s coursework and academic profile against each answer on the PSAT from 8th-11th grade, creating insights that allow schools to assess student needs across cohorts and years - and to compare outcomes against peer schools. These data give rise to valuable opportunities to support educators and students with customized feedback on the fundamental classroom skills on which they are over and under performing.

Students are missing fundamental classroom concepts on the SAT/ACT

Schools are missing the opportunity to get classroom feedback

Schools are missing the opportunity to boost scores in the classroom

We pay a LOT of money each year for a heck of a lot less data insights than you guys provide!

Sample Insights

Our analysis offers detailed insights on score trends and critical skills across cohorts and for specific classrooms. We consult with each school to identify the insights that matter most - whether by category, skill, passage type, cohort, course level, GPA, across schools, between schools, and much more.

What we do

We analyze
・8th-11th PSAT results
・Core Classes (e.g. Alg. II)
・Class Level (AP, Hon, etc.)

To identify fundamental classroom skills that are missed on the SAT/ACT

By school, class, class level, GPA and compared to similar schools

This is what we have always said we needed to do – a comprehensive measure of how each school and classroom is doing – but have never been able to.

The Results

Feedback for the classroom

We pinpoint the impact of a particular class/ level on fundamental classroom skills over time for each cohort. Additionally, we pinpoint for Core English & Math Teachers the specific skills on which their students are over and under performing.

Boost Scores in the classroom

Test Prep is time consuming and expensive. By boosting skills that are both fundamental to the classroom and the test - schools can help students increase their test scores in the classroom, making test prep accessible, efficient, and part of a school’s value proposition.

Comprehensive Feedback for Administrators

We pinpoint the impact of a particular course / course level on fundamental classroom skills over time for each cohort and, where relevant, compare similarly situated schools. In other words - we can measure the impact of, for example, Algebra II vs. Algebra II Honors on not only Math Scores, but also critical Algebra II skills that are on the SAT. Which Algebra II skills are students still missing after having completed Algebra II? And how does that compare to other similarly situated schools.

Unlock was instrumental in reviewing our students’ SAT data – providing us with concrete data so that we could make educated decisions about the scope and sequence of our Math and English classes. They never encouraged us to ‘teach to the test’, but instead gave us examples where our students had the opportunity to improve their scores with only minor additions to our academic offerings. We look forward to implementing many of their recommendations in the upcoming years.”
